Dungeons & Dragons’ World of Warcraft Gameplay Expansion adapts Azeroth for the tabletop role-playing game in a 256-page book. It includes character options, crafting rules, setting information, dungeons and a bestiary, with material that the reviewer says can also be used in campaigns outside the Warcraft world.

The book provides additions for every D&D class, including new spells and abilities, updated subclasses and three “Hero Classes”: Death Knight, Demon Hunter and Evoker. It also gives players guidance on building characters to resemble World of Warcraft specializations. Some familiar class names are changed to match the setting, such as Wizard to Mage and Fighter to Warrior.

Other player-facing material includes Warcraft races, mounts, creature companions and factions such as the Alliance and Horde. The expansion also develops the crafting rules in the 2024 Player’s Handbook and Dungeon Master’s Guide, offering guidance on gathering resources and making items. The reviewer says these rules could be especially useful for campaigns that take characters into the wilderness.

The book’s second half covers Azeroth’s mythology, history and geography, alongside dungeons and enemies for Dungeon Masters to use. The review praises the range of content and the flexibility it leaves for adapting the setting, but says the book offers limited support for inexperienced DMs. In particular, it lacks a ready-made introductory adventure to guide newcomers through running their first game.

The expansion is priced at $59.99, £49.99 or AU$84.99. The reviewer describes it as a strong choice for players, including those new to D&D, while recommending that first-time Dungeon Masters begin with someone more experienced.
