Logitech’s G Pro X3 Superstrike updates the G Pro X2 Superstrike with a new NxLOGI chipset, a lighter, more centered design and longer battery life. The changes make the mouse feel better overall, according to Tom’s Hardware, but the review says its $199.99 price is difficult to justify for most gamers.
The X3 retains the same shape as the X2 and weighs 59 grams, two grams less than its predecessor. Its weight has also been rebalanced: the reviewer found it noticeably more centered, although still slightly front-heavy. The mouse is available in black and “magenta eclipse.”
The new chipset enables a maximum polling rate of 8,000 Hz over both wired and wireless connections, while the X2 supported that rate only wirelessly. Logitech’s Hero 2 sensor is rated for up to 48,000 DPI, 930 IPS and 90 G. The review found its tracking accurate and consistent across a range of surfaces.
Like the X2, the X3 uses Logitech’s Haptic Inductive Trigger System instead of conventional switches beneath the primary buttons. HITS offers adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger and configurable click feedback. Tom’s Hardware found the simulated clicks convincing, but softer than those on the previous mouse. The side buttons use regular switches.
Logitech rates battery life at up to 135 hours at a 1,000 Hz polling rate, up from 90 hours for the X2. Using an 8,000 Hz polling rate cuts that figure to under 40 hours. The X3 can be configured through Logitech G Hub, including its DPI, polling rate, button assignments and HITS settings.
Tom’s Hardware concludes that the improved balance is the most noticeable upgrade, but says the weaker haptics and $199.99 price make the X3 a questionable purchase for most people. Owners of the X2 are unlikely to benefit enough from upgrading, while buyers seeking a lightweight symmetrical mouse may prefer the G Pro X Superlight 2, which the review notes can often be found for around $100.
