Envision Energy says it has completed the first commercial deployment of an integrated 800-volt DC power system at a data center. The system is operating at the company’s Galaxy AI campus in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, where Envision has been testing its Dubhe Controller since August 2026.

The system converts electricity directly from 10kV medium-voltage alternating current to an 800V direct-current bus. Envision says this approach simplifies power conversion, improves efficiency and reduces the size of the equipment compared with data center architectures that use several conversion stages.

Its design combines a solid-state transformer, battery storage and coordination between the two. The batteries can provide support over seconds and backup over minutes, while millisecond-level coordination is intended to absorb local fluctuations in GPU power demand. Envision says the system can also support higher-density AI racks and reduce the need for copper and other cabling.

The Dubhe Controller uses Envision’s Dubhe Energy Foundation Model to balance power supply and computing demand. The company says the system is designed to work with renewable energy and storage as well.

Envision’s current plans call for the Galaxy campus to scale to 3GW and eventually support up to one million AI accelerators. The company also intends to deploy the 800V DC technology through its Mission Gobi initiative, which targets 5GW of green AI data center capacity in desert regions by 2030.
