DJI’s first robot vacuum has been named TechRadar’s Home Device of the Year in the Home category, following a review that awarded the DJI Romo P 4.5 stars out of 5. The review described it as an extremely impressive smart-home debut, highlighting technology derived from DJI’s experience with drones.
The Romo P was praised for its highly accurate navigation and obstacle avoidance, while also delivering strong cleaning performance across different floor types. Its 25,000Pa suction rating is below that of some premium rivals, but testing found that the vacuum makes effective use of its power, with extendable brushes helping its performance.
The robot also includes a mopping function with dual spinning pads. Its compact dock handles ongoing maintenance, helping provide a largely hands-off cleaning experience. DJI’s companion Home app was also well received in the review and described as almost everything a robot app should be.
Design is another distinctive feature. The Romo P has a futuristic appearance, with visible internal elements that give it a look compared with Nothing products. The review characterized the robot as an impressive all-round package despite being DJI’s debut model in the category.
The vacuum normally sells for more than AU$2,000, but JB Hi-Fi is offering a 44% discount in an early Black Friday promotion. The deal reduces the price by AU$1,003 and is available ahead of the main Black Friday sales period in Australia.
