Anthropic spent $1.711 billion on personnel in its latest three-month period, according to figures in a recent S-1 filing. That was slightly below the previous quarter’s $1.857 billion, but around 3.5 times the $489 million spent in the same quarter of 2025.

With about 5,300 employees, the quarterly total works out to more than $322,000 per person, or over $107,000 a month. This is an average of total personnel costs, not an estimate of individual take-home pay. The figure includes bonuses, employee benefits, payroll taxes and stock-based compensation.

Stock-based compensation accounted for an estimated $1.1 billion of the quarterly expenditure, nearly two-thirds of the total. Across the first three quarters of 2026, Anthropic spent $4.8 billion on personnel, equivalent to around 15% of its revenue over that period.

Calculations cited by Business Insider put Anthropic’s revenue at roughly $6.6 million per employee. That compares with $3.2 million at Meta and $2.5 million at Google.

Anthropic does not publish salary information, so the filing does not show how much employees receive in wages. The figures do, however, highlight the scale of the company’s spending on its workforce as it competes for AI talent.

Recent Reuters reporting has placed Anthropic’s potential valuation at around $1.5 trillion ahead of an expected IPO. A separate Reuters report put OpenAI’s potential valuation at $1.25 trillion.
